Anna was previously the CAIS Project Manager – a partnership role between WRRT and the Department of Conservation, where her key responsibilities included reviewing the RFR framework between DOC and Waikato-Tainui. A qualified lawyer, Anna has extensive knowledge in RMA and environmental planning, and has previously worked for the South Waikato District Council and NZ Historic Places Trust. Her role as a Senior Policy Advisor is to lead delivery of the tribe’s accords under the provisions of its river settlement.

Eric Pene

Eric Pene
Conservation Advisor
Waikato, Whakatohea, Hauraki – Hukanui Marae/Tauhei Marae, Opape Marae, Tirohia Marae
 
Eric’s has an extensive background in education, environment and iwi development and has worked for various organisations including Te Wananga o Aotearoa, Waikato Raupatu Lands Trust and the Department of Conservation. Prior to joining the River Trust, he was a River Ranger for over five years – a role created as part of the tribe’s co-management agreement with DOC. Eric’s role is to help lead, develop and implement various restoration projects with tribal members along the awa.

Lee Tane
Strategic Projects Advisor
Ngaati Maniapoto – Raakaunui Marae, Te Koraha Marae
 
Lee joined the Waikato Raupatu River Trust as a Strategic Projects Advisor and has previously worked for the NZ Police. He has qualifications in science and environmental management. Lee oversees the tribe’s partnership with the Ministry of Primary Industries and is responsible for the management of the fisheries portfolio and the implementation of relevant accord projects.

Susan Stephens
Strategic Projects Advisor
Ngaati Mahuta, Ngaati Mahanga, Ngaati Tanewai – Tuurangawaewae Marae
 
Susan has over 22-years’ experience in the banking industry including five years as National Kohanga Reo Bank Manager. She has previously worked for the Waikato River Authority and its predecessor the Guardians Establishment Committee (GEC). Susan spent time working with whanau of Rongomaiwahine as a Hauora Manager and Project Manager before returning to the Waikato. She is responsible for overseeing agribusiness opportunities and projects relevant to the Waikato River Settlement.
