Ngaati Koroki-Kahukura – Maungatautari Marae
Karlena has been working within Waikato-Tainui for the last five years and is responsible for providing operational support and advice for all financial accounts and management systems. Prior to joining the tribe, she worked in a research role, supporting the Ngaati Koroki Kahukura claim. Karlena has also previously worked at the Maori Land Court, Tainui Group Holdings and NZ Immigration.
Operational Systems Advisor
Ngaati Whaawhaakia – Kaitumutumu Marae
Kuiarangi has a Bachelor of Media Arts and started with the tribe in 2007 as part of the Lands Trust’s Communications Unit. With a background in public relations and communications, she took up a role at Waikato University before joining the Department of Conservation in 2012 to lead implementation of the tribe’s conservation accord. Kuiarangi joined the River Trust in 2014 and oversees administration of key internal and external operational systems and processes.
Ngaati Maahuta – Taniwha-Tangoao Marae
Michelle joins the River Trust from the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development, where she worked as part of its Research Unit for four years. With a background in administration, she has previously worked for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and as an English Language teacher in Japan. Michelle’s role is to provide administrative and systems support to staff, ensuring the operational requirements of their projects are completed.
